Oh wow nessa, it was so long ago I can't even remember the title any more let alone where i found the story, there was this prank war going on, and Wufei was being all sorts of dispaaging about how childish it was then he dedided to use the situation as cover to go after zechs and got quatre instead. the rest of the details are kinda fuzzy. but it is one of the stories i wish i could find again. One story i like for playing with tropes and steriotypes is That's Childish, So Childish ยป by Lancynth in that one zechs gets de-aged has to escape from the scientist responcable, brings an oz base to its knese and is forced to take refuge in quatre's secret desert base . the little lightning count creates all sorts of havoc rollerblading in the hanger and what not, he even gets some of the G-boys to join in...you can find it here www.fanfiction.net/s/575446/1/Thats_Childish_So_ChildishThere was another story with a very similar theme to 'childish'...it might have been the one with the hair dye both zechs and treize get turned into kids, it doesn't have a great escape scene like Lycanth's story. Zechs and treize just sort of show up at the door steap of the boy's safe house but there is more tension as 6 and 13 act more like kids and slowly begin forgetting what it was like being adults. the dialogue was terrific and treize has a lisp. the main theme was about the g-boys looking for a cure but it was unfinished when i read it, now i can't find hyde nore hair of the story. If any of you have any idea who wrote it or where it might be please let me know.

nakitsura: I HATE the random Japanese in fanfics! Ugh! That kills me! I am SO glad that it's not just me who despises that. I'll be in the middle of reading the fic, and then some half arsed japanese lingo will pop up, "OWARI KUN KAWAII DESU" ... Yeeeah. That's about the point I press "back" on my browser. >_> OT: I think all the pilots have a certain disconnect from emotions, Heero and Trowa especially. I don't think it's that they are emotionless, so much as that they understand the necessity of blocking out their feelings. I mean, their line of work involves killing people. If they stopped and had a bawfest about it, they'd never get anything done, and they'd spend their lives in a downward spiral of guilt and the etc.

Hell, I read the word 'Kawaii!!' complete with multiple exclamation points and I CLOSE firefox in disgust. Unless of course it is a humour fic and is appropriate to the story; that's a whole 'nuther ball game.
Point number two, what the hell is with the 'downward spiral of guilt' stereotype as well? If I read one more suicidal pilot story or 'OMG DUO'S A CUTTER!!' story I think I'm gonna barf. PTSD is a serious possibility, but Jeebus H Macy half these have nothing to do with the war, more like Heero's gonna kill himself because of the little girl or Quatre's a cutter because Daddy didn't hug him or Trowa... whatever.
Am I the only one who sees them as having come out of the war rather stronger than they went in? All of them seem to have some sort of growth, they no longer have to face the horrors of an ongoing battle right on their doorstep, they have a bond between them which enables them to form a sort of support network. I mean, that little flashback thing at the end of EW seems to show an awfully bright and cheerful future for them all, except perhaps Heero and his littlest hobo moment there.

Lol, nice discription there I always thought heero's flash back seemed rather random HA. I agree irs likely the boys suffer from PTS after what they've been through and their age it wouldn't surprse me a bit. I think heero might have the most difficult tome 'normalizing' in peace time but i don't think he is suisidal. the cutting fics worry me, it makes me think the writers believe that is a valid way to cope with stress ect... they seem to glorify it and it makes me wonder if they are thinking about doing it or already doing it. which makes the story either a marysue or a cry for help.

They worry me because I have only seen a very very small few where the cause matches the most common factors leading to such self destructive behaviour. Most of the time they seem far too.. well... 'emo' which as you say makes me wonder if the writer is in fact looking for attention in a very odd way.
And thank you, that was what immediately sprung to mind the first time I saw that and I've never been able to shake it. Having just looked up the lyrics to the song due to the earworm I gave myself, suddenly thinking kinda appropriate for Heero... Slightly. 'Cept the Hobo bit. And making friends wherever he goes.
'Maybe tomorrow I'll want to settle down, Until tomorrow, the whole world is my home.'

JUMPIING IN REALLY LATE>
In refernece to the first post: That's everything I've always wondered, summed up in one post.
Where do people get this shit? Like safehouses where all the gundam boys live together - that's only in fanfiction.

well the series does show them staying in pairs between missions, duo and heero at the shool, wufei and trowa at the circus duo and quat in the desert, heero and trowa at the circus, quat and heero by the ocean, i think the onlytime they were all together at once was about the peacemillion...but i like to think they did get together dirt side every once and a wile. I think there are time gaps in the series that leave roo for other missions and downtime experiances for fic writers to explore, so the safehose thing doesn't bother me... there was an interview with Scott Mc Neil at one of the cons where he jokes that all the GW voice actors live together in a big house with elves...look there goes one now... he's funny, or at least his on-stage persona, a lot like duo himself is hard to know what is beneath the mask.

Off topic: I can't help but feel that your tagline ('How non-cryptic can one really be with a lively enthusiasm for semicolons?') is directed at me ('lunah.love;;doesn't love you')
